George Norman Seats was born on March 10, 1932 in Indianapolis, Indiana as the first child of Elvis Thomas and Mary Ann Seats. He was enlisted in the Army once he was old enough then on October 29, 1955, George married Terry. George became the loving father to three boys Terry previously had, Gene, Jim and Billy. He raised them and loved them as his own while also raising three children with Terry that came soon after, Roberta, Tami and Patrick. Together George and Terry made a beautiful life with their beautiful family and they continued to do that until Friday, February 15, 2019 when Terry went home to be with the Lord and George followed shortly after his beloved on Monday, February 18, 2019. George is survived by his children, Jim (Dolly) Arbuckle, Bill (Jan) Gibbs, Roberta (Bob) Austin, Tami (Darryl) Huntley and Patrick (Margaret) Seats as well as his 27 grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren, 3 great great grandchildren, brother Nick (Patsy) Seats and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife of 63 years, Terry. He was also preceded in death by his parents, son Gene Arbuckle and his wife Lynn, daughter Kelly, nephew Ron Seats and grandson Mikey Baltzell.

There were many things George loved but his favorites were, Terry, his family, auto racing, meeting new people everywhere he went, Coca-Cola and Menards. Even though grand gestures were not a part of their love story, no one could doubt the love George had for Terry. From the kiss he always gave her every time he would leave to always holding hands whenever they were near each other, the love they shared was felt by everyone around them. George was also so proud of his family. His brother Nick and him delighted in educating the family about our lineage dating back all the way to George Washington. He was so proud that he even joined the Sons of the American Revolution and reminded us all of our right to join as well. George’s most favorite hobby was auto racing. He spent most of his nights around Indiana auto race tracks and was a member of Hoosier Auto Racing Fans (HARF). He was proud to serve as the PR man for many years where he would hand out all the awards to the drivers and he shared that honor with many grand children. George could also always be found drinking a coca-cola. He would also try peddling all the soft drinks he stored in the minifridge. George was the most generous man and he had a special way of showing his love, mostly through buying something that he thought you might need. In his later years, while Terry had her Wednesday nights with Patrick and “her girls,” George would go to Menards where he was excited to find rebates and bring home the treasurers to share with family. As everyone knows, George was never a man of few words and everyone who knew George will surely miss his stories. George will be deeply missed and the cherished memories we share will comfort our hearts forever.
Services for George will be combined with his wife and held on Thursday, February 21st at their home church, Post Road Christian Church, at 1112 N. Post Road, Indianapolis, Indiana. Family visitation will be held at 9:30-10:30 am, family and friends at 10:30, the service at 11:30 and a mercy meal to follow.
Please feel free to send donations in lieu of flowers to the Racing with Jesus Ministeries in remembrance of George.
